Are We Alone?

As we all know there are already well-supported groups trying to answer this question. The most prominent is SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, a privately funded attempt to scan the Cosmos for intelligent signals from afar.

Radio telescopes scan the skies, and computers crunch the results looking for the patterns that might indicate an artificial signal coming from deep space. Alien hunters stand watch out in the desert, looking for lights in the sky flying over military bases. Both are looking for answers to the same question: Is our little civilization on our little blue planet alone in the galaxy; or are there others, like us, who want to meet us as much as we want to meet them?

For as long as humanity has known that those twinkling lights in the night sky are other suns, there has been a yearning to reach the stars. This motivation is both visceral and rational. The allure of the unknown is reflected in the science fiction of our time, which itself is instrumental in inspiring students to become pioneers. It also touches on the deepest meaning of what we are as a species and our place in the Universe. On the rational side, the enormous benefits of practical interstellar flight should be obvious. Not only would it free humanity from having just one safe haven, but it would also generate profound technological spin-offs. Imagine it. From achieving practical interstellar flight, breakthroughs in energy conversion, transportation, and sustainable habitats would become available both for use on Earth and to expand the human presence beyond. And in the near-term, it is hoped that the very pursuit of such ambitions will give hope for the future, reminding us of our shared humanity and affirming that there is a future worth working toward.
Types of galaxies according to the Hubble classification scheme. An E indicates a type of elliptical galaxy; an S is a spiral; and SB is a barred-spiral galaxy.

Imagine the historic moment when the first Earth-like planet is detected deep across interstellar space. Like an inaccessible jewel it will beckon us. Is this a future home for humanity? What forms of life are already there? How do we get there? What happens when we arrive?

Based on today's technology, traveling to the stars is a long-term proposition. While existing space agencies grapple with sending astronauts beyond Earth orbit, and entrepreneurial firms bring the thrill of spaceflight to the people, no one has taken on the challenge of reaching other habitable worlds; until now.

Our entire future is presently tied to this one, small planet Earth. If a global catastrophe ever befell Earth, whether by natural causes or our own actions, humanity would end. Mars and the Moon are conceivably within our reach, but they are not intrinsically habitable by our standards. Even after getting there, residents of these worlds would be living inside boxes with precarious supplies of air, water and food, and without simple Earth-like amenities like gentle breezes, flowing rivers and the vast array of plants and animals we routinely enjoy.

Imagine what it would be like to have another Earth-like planet within our reach. Imagine the new natural wonders to explore, and to live in. It would be an opportunity to start over. It would be a place where humanity could continue if a global catastrophe ever befell Earth. The prospects of encountering new life, perhaps even intelligent life, are mind-boggling. Take a moment to ponder what it would mean if we had a whole new Earthlike planet within our reach.

As much as it might be appealing to think that some benevolent alien race will save us someday, that's not the best way to get things done.

Our survival as a species depends on learning how live beyond our -one- and only home, Earth. And it's up to us to make it happen.

Why should we do Maintenace on our PC?

All PC will degrade over time if not properly maintained, so keeping ur PC in optimal performance require regular maintenance.

Below is a list of the actual things I regulary do to maintain my [DELL XPS M1530] weekly, this is only an example, but it is a good starting point for the average PC user.

1. Scan for Malicious Software
Update malware scanners then run a full manual scan on each one.
Example: {ur anti-virus, spyware, adware, rootkits, browser hijackers. Software}.

2. Check for startup programe & services
Use MSconfig to check the startup & services. Identify and disable unnecessary ones.
Action: [Start > Search Box or Run > type "msconfig"]

3. Clean Windows
Run the Disk Cleanup utility to clean out of remaining unnecessary files.
Action: [Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup]

4. Defragment
it help find the file fragments and put them back together in the same location on the disk, to prevent degradation of ur hard drive performance.
Action: [Start > All Program > Accessories > system tools > Disk Defragmenter]

Actually there is 3 more step for advance user, as these step might crash ur registry or operating system if not done in proper order in a series of steps, but it help alot in improving ur PC performance, i won't post it as i don't wan't any 1 to curse me ;p if something goes wrong, for user who wanted to try these step can ask me directly.

Please note that unfortunately there are no automated maintenance programs/software which can do proper PC maintenance for u, Though many tools claim they can do this, there are several important steps which require active decision making and irregular frequency of application.

robots taking over the world, ever founded in reality?

as 1 of my hobby is design & build robots & doing research on todays technology. Yes, robots may eventually take over the world. But we wil hav plenty of warning. Right now, robots hav the intelligence of a cockroach. A "retarded stupid cockroach 小强" Our most advanced robots take about six hour jus to walk around a strange room (the automated vacuume cleaner for example). It may be years to decades b4 they r as smart as a mouse, then a rabbit, then a dog or cat, and finally a monkey. By the time they hav the intelligence of a monkey, they can b dangerous, since they wil hav plan or agendas of their own. But we wil hav plenty of warning. By the time they are as smart as a monkey, I think we should put a chip in their brains to turn them off whn they hav murderous thoughts. The key is that we will have plenty of time b4 these robot creations become truly sentient and conscious, wit their own goal & desire.

If time machines exist

assuming if they exist, then there is hope that we might meet our older or younger self, but they wont be exactly like us. I believe, if we jump from one time line to another time line, we may meet ourselves in the past, but these people wont really be us. They will be genetically identical to us, but will be a younger or older version of ourself in a parallel universe. We wont hav any time paradoxes. So if we change the past, we change someone else past, who is genetically identical to us, but is not really "us." Of course, we won't know for sure until we finally build a time machine.

Introduction ^^v

It has been ages since i wanted to blog to share all my thoughts and knowledge with everyone or as a part of my diary , so that everyone understand me deeper.

We never know what will happend tomorrow or the future, atleast there's a public blog where i can freeze my "thoughts & knowledge" in word & time for the future to come. [as long as this blog still exist] but who knows? its a small world out there.

My greatest fear is that i don't want to be like (a single leaf on the ground in autumn, lost, forgotten, alone) even if i have long gone from this world atleast my "EXISTENCE" is known, then i would be pleased~
I greatly thanking for those who borrow me some of your time to read my blog & drop some comment on it thanks very much Love you all~ hope you all enjoy reading it ~
have a nice day ^^ enjoy~
